My name is Shakil Cameron and I am a graduate of Monroe college.
I earned my MBA I graduated in 2013. And I chose Monroe because learning about the partnership thought. Well wait a minute, that's an option for me, the environment was conducive to what I was trying to do. So as an older student and going back working full time, I felt that the program that Monroe had would work for me.
I knew I wanted to do something in IT. I worked with electronics in the sales and marketing world, but I want to get more in depth and get more knowledge about it. And I felt like Monroe was the best place to do that. The deans, the chairperson, the career service department, everybody worked collectively to make sure that your college experience was the best one to have.
The program helps associates. It gives them offers-- a discount for them to go back to school. Earn their associates, their master's, their bachelor's, but just to further their education to help them in their career.
It basically opened doors. Having this education, having this background, having the help from all the students on the faculty really helped me get an exposure.
The professor's were wonderful. They listened. They allowed you to give inputs but I felt that they really cared about us as students and they understood our-- some of our struggles as students. They create an environment where I was able to be successful. I think the environment is very welcoming of people who are continuing their education maybe a little bit later in life. I think one of the important things again, that helps me is the fact that Monroe recognizes that we're not just coming to the classroom, and learning from a book we're bringing real life experiences with us and so it makes it a wonderful learning environment for those who are returning to school.
Prior to Monroe, I was just a guy who was working at a retail store. After my Monroe, I have a career path. And if you're looking for a career path, if you're looking for guidance, if you're looking for success in general, this is the place to be.
